Synthesis of a novel tannic acid-functionalized polypropylene as antioxidant active-packaging materials

This work focuses on the synthesis of novel tannin-functionalized polypropylene copolymers that are designed to inhibit oxidation vegetable oils for potential use as packaging materials. An empty glass Petri dish (control), a chlorinated polypropylene-coated (control) and series coated dishes overlaid with linseed oil were exposed air additional white light. Oligomerization oxidized was assessed by measuring flow properties using viscometer. The antioxidant effect tannic acid grafted (PP-Tann) retarded oligomerization oil. molar mass linoleic onto PP-Tann films lowest among tested samples after each time period indicating tannin-grafted may be promising material oils.
